Sarang-Eh No Enough...

10 years after being indoctrinated into K-dramas.. I'm left wondering why they are so addictive when they depict typical story lines and characters? Maybe it's the post-plastic surgery great look of the actors and actress (although height is ONE factor that can't be so easily changed).. or the delicious food often shown.. like BBQ beef, ramen and of cos kimchi.. or maybe I'm just an Ahjumma who needs an escape from reality every now and then? WOW! What a target audience! Here's a quick run-down for the uninitiated folks:

1. The Love Quadrangle.. Boy A and Boy B fall in love with Girl C.. but Girl D is Boy A's first love.. Girl C loves Boy A but her Abujin (father) doesn't approve of him and wants her to marry Boy B instead

2. The Cinderella Effect.. poor Girl meets snobbish rich Guy who eventually falls for her charms and transforms her from an ugly duckling into a swan.. I must admit this gets me without fail every time.. *SIGH*

3. The Piggy Back.. Girl gets drunk on soju and becomes blur after eating spicy sotong in the middle of the night and calls Oppa (brother or boyfriend) to give her a piggy-back ride home

4. The Thinker.. Guy gets to show off his 6-pack (never ONE) in the shower scene when he has a lot on his mind.. Girl who disguises herself as a guy has to take extra precautions when or where she takes a bath

5. The Sad Endings.. Guy gets brain tumour, becomes blind and then dies.. Girl has leukemia and finds out she is actually the biological sister of the Guy she loves

6. The Mystical.. a recent addition to the fun.. Boy A and Girl B exchange bodies.. Girl C's soul possesses Girl D to bring closure to her life on earth.. the Girl is not human but a gumiho (fox), goblin or one of the Asian X-men

7. The Big Shocker.. this is when the Omuni (mother) clasps the back of her neck, exclaims 'OMO OMO OMO!' and faints after hearing that her Yo-bu (honey) has an illegitimate son contesting for the rights of the company

8. The Stupid Ending.. Guy kills himself by crashing the car so he can donate his organs to his beloved.. The doctor sacrifices himself as the final victim to catch the murderer on video
