Italy Day 7: Milan-The Fashion Hub
Jimmy lost his wedding band AGAIN.. for the umpteen time and of ALL days too?!! We had to turn the room up-side-down.. looked under the beds and cupboards.. finally, I FOUND it tucked away underneath one of the bags. Thank God!!! This is already our 2nd set.. We decided to walk to the market since the weather was better than yesterday. Some parts of the city were still wet and you can actually buy disposable shoe protectors here.. what an ingenious idea!
We had to lug our bags to the Santa Lucia Station to catch the express train to Milano.. about 20-30 minute walk.. depending on whether you get lost or distracted by the trinkets sold at the stalls. The train journey itself was about 2.5 hours.. pisturesque country side.. farm houses.. typical Italian cottages.. snow on the ground.. white-capped mountain ranges.. all flew past the window.. as we munched on our 'cheapest' lunch to date.. €4 MacDonald burgers.. some biscuits.. and 1 bottle of mineral water.
It was already dusk when we arrived in Milan.. so we just took the train and headed to Marriott Hotel without exploring much of the city. We had a DIY (Do-It-Yourself) dinner from the supermarket.. the usual ham.. cheese.. bread.. with additional roast chicken.. a box of gelato.. dried figs.. chocolate biscuits.. a carton of fruit juice.. chinotto.. and a bottle white wine (€1.50).. all for only €20! Then I fell asleep while the guys watched football.. zzzZZZ..
