Choose Wisdom...
After watching a Science documentary last week , Jared asked me if Stephen Hawking is the smartest man on earth. Hmmm.. interesting question..
Me: Yeah.. he's probably ONE of the smartest but I don't think he is very wise
Jared: Huh???
Me: Do you know there's a difference between intelligence and wisdom?
Jared: Er.. not sure..
Me: He is not wise because he doesn't acknowledge God. The fear of God is the beginning of wisdom and God gives wisdom to those to ask.. like King Solomon, who was the wisest man on earth. Do you know what is wisdom?
Jared: What?
Me: Wisdom is knowing the difference between right and wrong.. AND choosing to do what is right.. in the eyes of God.. do you understand?
Jared: I think so.. (thoughtfully)
Very so often parents forget the more important things in life as we get caught up in the rat race.. especially here in the Singapore. We stress on exams.. ship our children to several tuition and enrichment classes.. in pursuit of knowledge and supposedly a brighter future. But at the end of life.. would we be counting our laureates OR pondering over this question instead.. have I lived right? Therefore, wise up and choose wisdom...
