Melbourne (Day 5)

I started the day with stretches and exercises.. yes.. yes.. it's the blue moon.. and maybe that's why David Beckham also happened to be in town for the LA Galaxy vs Melbourne Victory match. We drove to the city and stopped by 'Vic Mart' and pick up some souvenirs.. and finally could get some Vitamin D since it was a sunny day. OW! STATIC!.. I was zapped yet again.. really must remember not to touch the metal part of the car door!

Then we meet up with my BBGS old school mate for lunch.. Seto recommended Cafe Corretto.. apparently the boss of the shop was the president of the Ferrari club here. Made a new friend too.. Sarah.. who just graduated from Medical School.. but she also did an honours thesis on fruit flies prior to that! We had an interesting conversation on making fly food (something that resembled sticky porridge).. scraping lavae with brushes.. and cute fly genome names like 'Chiko'? To think that I actually wanted to study Genetics at one point in time...

Then we toured Melbourne Uni and visited the libraries with the latest computers.. projectors and study rooms (it was very different 20 years ago).. The Old Arts Building.. walked through the arch ways.. on the lawn.. and headed up to Seven Seeds which was located at a converted warehouse.. but it was crowded. So we ended up at the Image Superstore Cafe where they offered studio photography at the same premise! The interior decore was rather unique.. camera lense hanging lights.. thermos.. and miniature camera USB ports. Needless to say we had more coffee.. muffins.. and added some macaroons...

We had take-away Nando's spicy peri-peri chicken for dinner.. followed by our very own karaoke session! Being Asians, I guessed we were initially a little shy and awkward but soon warmed up to the whole idea of having fun as a family. One funny moment was when the title 'Get This Party Started' flashed across the TV screen.. we were like.. 'Nah.. Dunno this song?' However, when the familiar tune started.. we chorused altogether at the top of our voices to the lyrics.. 'I'm coming up..' Apparently, we ALL knew the song.. a classic example of how information can be accessed and retrieved from the long-term memory bank in our brain. We did a spontaneous quintet for 'Lean on me' with attempted harmonisation.. and danced to some of our favourites.. 'Billy Jean'.. "I Wanna Dance With Somebody'.. 'Wake Me Up Before You Go Go'.. plus Justin's B-Boy pose on his elbow.. Moonwalk demo.. and Samuel's breakdance.. caterpillar body wave and helicopter leg-sweep (rather like Jackie Chan's Kung Fu stance in Drunken Fist!).. HILLARIOUS!!!

Last but not least.. we celebrated Caden's 3rd birthday that night with ice-cream cake and fan-fare.. the excited little guy could hardly wait to blow out the candles!
