A Series Of Unfortunate Events...

A few weeks ago.. on a fateful Sunday evening.. I watched the water the toilet bowl swirl and rise instead of receding when I flushed it. So, armed with a plunger, a straightened coat hanger wire, a pail and some old rags.. I decided to put on my plumber hat and tackle the problem myself.. after all, I HAVE done that on several occasions.. the memorable ones whilst we were on holiday in Korea AND Italy...

Needless to say, the mission failed miserably and all my efforts were in vain.. unfortunately, it didn't go 'down the drain' when it should have?? After what seemed like forever.. loud gurgling sounds came coming from the drain holes under the sink, in the bathtub and shower cubicle! Then I watched in shock horror when brown murky liquid bubbled up along with bits of suspicious-looking toilet paper pulp?! YIKES! HELP!!! Instead of unclogging the pipes.. I somehow ended up dislodging undesirable debris and flooding the entire bathroom floor in inch-deep sewer water.. OH CRAP!!! Next, I heard a familiar 'drip-drop-drip-drop' from the bedroom.. the air-con had started to leak since it couldn't drain properly. Could anything else go wrong?? *SIGH*

What's the moral of the story? The Parable of the Sower came to my mind.. the part where it said 'the weeds grew and choke the seedlings'. Lesson #1: Remember to get rid of the gunk in the 'pipes' of your life and clean them every so often or the lack of outlet will choke the joy of you later.. and Lesson #2: Save the effort and leave the plumbing to the experts.. just pay $140 for it!
